Just a kilometre from Wayanad’s city centre sat a hilltop with a sea of trees ready to be axed by its owners and built upon. When George Ramapuram of Bengaluru architecture firm Earthitects discovered this plot in 2017, he realised he had hit a pot of gold—a green space that feels a world apart, just a 10-minute drive from all the conveniences of a city. The sanctity of the place must be kept intact, he was sure.

So, he purchased the land, and decided to build a home “around nature and not on it”. Soon after, he found a tech entrepreneur from Bengaluru in search of a holiday home who echoed his thoughts and shared a similar vision for his home.
